Routine exams, X-rays, & cleanings FAQs
A routine dental exam includes a full check of your teeth, gums, and mouth to identify early signs of cavities, gum disease, or other oral health issues. Your dentist may also review your X-rays, ask about symptoms, and recommend next steps based on your needs.
Modern digital X-ray machines use a very low dose of radiation and are considered safe for both kids and adults. X-rays help your dentist detect issues that aren’t visible during an exam, like cavities between teeth, infections, or impacted wisdom teeth. Most adults only need X-rays once a year, though your dentist may recommend a different schedule based on your needs.
Most people benefit from a dental cleaning every six months to remove plaque and prevent gum disease. Your dentist may suggest a different schedule if you have specific concerns or ongoing treatment needs.
Walk-ins are welcome, but booking an appointment is recommended to avoid long wait times. If you’re concerned about a dental problem or experiencing a dental emergency, call us immediately at (800) 579-3783 and we will get you in to see the dentist as soon as possible.
